Useful hints and tips for a successful installation of the OptiVolt 60 and 100.

The OptiVolt Voltage Optimiser is designed to reduce incoming voltages and save house holders money on their electricity bills

Where should it be installed?

The optivolt will need to be installed in the main tail wires between the grid meter and the properties main electrical distribution box. A suitable ventilated cupboard will be fine but remember the unit does generate heat.

Tip: Although the unit is designed and built to be as silent as possible, mounting directly to a hollow plasterboard wall can result in raised noise levels due to the drum effect of the board. Mounting a plywood/MDF board first can reduce this problem

Mounting

When a suitable position has been chosen the OptiVolt is supplied with a full size mounting template. This can be used to mark fixing holes. The type of fixing will depend on the surface and the construction of the wall, remember that the OptiVolt 60 weighs 20kg 24kg

Tip: NuVision Energy can provide sub frames at additional cost that allow the installer to mount the frame and attach the OptiVolt.

Connection:

The grid supply can then be disconnected at the main fuse (qualified electrician only) and a 100A isolator installed in the tail wires after the meter.

The tail wires are then extended into the OptiVolt unit and connected as shown in the diagram below.

The cut tail wires to the consumer unit can also be connected to the OptiVolt and if necessary joined via Henley blocks.

Tip: Remember to notify the household before disconnecting the main power supply

Earth

Connect the OptiVolt to the main earth using 10mmearth wire using the terminal or the case mounted stud.

Switch on

Check all of the connections are tight and the unit is ready to switch on. Replace the cover and switch the grid supply on.

Test

Test the incoming and outgoing voltage and check the outgoing voltage is not below 220 volts. In this instance, disconnect the main grid supply and remove the cover. Following the instructions, move the link wire from positions B to position C, this is a lower step down. In the same way, additional steps down can be achieved by moving the wire to terminal A.

Selection of output Voltage by moving the link wire connected to the block marked ABC

**Connect the input Neutral to terminal A if the input voltage is between 254v and 250v

**Connect the input Neutral to terminal B if the input voltage is between 249v and 240v

***Connect the input Neutral to terminal C if the input voltage is between 239v and 230v

Best results are achieved if the output voltage is between 220v and 225v

Carry out any statutory electrical tests required for this installation.

Hand Over

Optivolt is supplied with an owners document which should be completed by the installer.

There is also a Warranty Statement.

These documents should be left with the householder for safe keeping.

Tip: The Optivolt is a quality product that should deliver many years of trouble free savings. Never install an OptiVolt 60 where there is a 100amp fuse but you can install an OptiVolt 100 on a 60 amp fuse
