Here we answer common questions about the Tigo maximisers

Is an internet connection required?

We recommend connecting the Tigo MMU Management Unit online so that your customer benefits from the free module monitoring and so that they can receive software updates.

If it is not possible to get an internet connection on site then it is possible to set up the Tigo MMU before you go to site. The system must be configured online and then the Tigo MMU connected online so that it can download the configuration. Care must be taken as the configuration cannot be changed without connecting the MMU online.

How do I check which model of maximiser I require?

The easiest way is to use the Tigo Configuration Tool, just enter the panel spec and the correct model is selected.

Please follow the link to use the install tool: http://www.tigoenergy.com/widget/tool.html

How many Management Units and Wireless Gateways do I require?

The wireless Gateway has a maximum range of 15m line of site and it can communicate with up to 120 panels.

A Management Unit can link with up to 7 Gateways and it can run up to a maximum of 360 panels.

What should I do before going to site?

  • Record the serial numbers of he Maximisers, Gateways and Management Units
  • Plan the layout and string arrangement of the maximisers - the easiest way is to use the stickers provided with the maximisers
  • Configure the system online at the Tigo website: https://installations.tigoenergy.com/
  • Supply an Ethernet cable to connect the Management Unit online and RS45 cable to link the Management Units to the Gateways
  • The Management Unit requires an AC power supply, make sure there will be a plug socket available

What is the difference between the Free monitoring and Premium monitoring?

Every Tigo system enjoys a Free monitoring account which includes module-level monitoring with 30 days historic data.

The Premium monitoring is available from Tigo direct and offers additional features including analysis, full historic data and download.
