Just how effective is the boiler Energy Saver?

Find out how much energy the NuVision Boiler Energy Saver saved when installed with a Potterton Kingfisher floor standing gas boiler.

Energy Saver monitored test installation winter/spring 2013 

 

A NuVision Boiler Energy Saver was installed to a Potterton Kingfisher floor standing gas boiler providing central heating via radiators and hot water via storage cylinder. 

The time clock for the heating and hot water was set to operate every day from 6:30 to 13:00 and 18:00 to 22:30.

 

The Energy Saver was run on a day on/ day off basis in that the unit was put into the active and the bypass modes on alternate days. The running of the boiler was logged in each mode to provide data for the savings calculation. 

The results areas follows: 

February 2013

Bypass mode boiler run time: 96.6 hours
Active Mode boiler run time: 80.5 hours
Saving Calculation: ((Bypass Mode-Active Mode)/Bypass Mode) x 100 (96.6-80.5)/96.6)x100=16.6%
Fuel/CO2 Savings over period: 16.6%

 

March 2013 

Bypass mode boiler run time: 96.6 hours
Active Mode boiler run time: 80.5 hours
Saving Calculation: ((Bypass Mode-Active Mode)/Bypass Mode) x 100 (96.6-80.5)/96.6)x100=16.6%
Fuel/CO2 Savings over period:  16.6%

 

April 2013

Bypass mode boiler run time: 93.2 hours
Active Mode boiler run time: 72.5 hours
Saving Calculation: ((Bypass Mode-Active Mode)/Bypass Mode) x 100 (93.2-72.5)/93.2)x100=22.2%
Fuel/CO2 Savings over period:  22.2%

 

May 2013 

Bypass mode boiler run time: 88.6 hours
Active Mode boiler run time: 62.1 hours
Saving Calculation: ((Bypass Mode-Active Mode)/Bypass Mode) x 100 (88.6-62.1)88.6)x100=29.9%
Fuel/CO2 Savings over period: 

29.9%

 

Overall Energy Savings  21.9%
