Answering your questions about the Nedap PowerRouter.

What if my customer already has a PV system installed?

In this case the Nedap Unifit back-up unit is the ideal retrofit solution. It is installed on the AC side of their existing PV system and provides both self-consumption and back-up power.

Can I limit the feed-in from the system?

Yes, this is possible using the PowerRouter's dynamic feed-in limiter.

Just use the Nedap Install Tool to limit the export from the system - you can choose a value from zero up to full power.

What is the standard warranty?

The PowerRouter comes with a standard 5yr warranty, this can optionally be extended up to 10yrs.

Will the PowerRouter keep the panels running during a grid failure?

Yes, the PowerRouter will use both the batteries and solar panels to keep your customer's home running for as long as possible.

With the Unifit retrofit system the PV inverter disconnects as usual and back-up power is povided using the battery only.

How quickly does the PowerRouter kick in during a power cut?

The PowerRouter will first isolate and then switch the contactor relay in order to provide back-up power. This is in order to meet the G83/2 requirements.

It takes the PowerRouter just a couple of seconds to switch over and provide your customer with 'emergency back-up' power.

Can I install PowerRouters on a 3 phase system?

Yes, this is possible although there are a couple of limitations.

You can install one PowerRouter per phase, each with its own battery bank. This allows you to install a system up to 15kW with a 5kW unit on each phase.

The PowerRouter can only offer 'emergency back-up' power if the customer is running single phase loads.

How many PowerRouters can I install?

It is possible to install a maximum of one PowerRouter on each phase of the supply.

Can I use the PowerRouter for an off-grid project?

The PowerRouter is currently not recommended for completely off-grid projects because it does not support a back-up generator.

How can I monitor my Nedap system?

What is the difference between the Unifit 3.7 and Unifit 5.0?

The difference is the power rating of the battery charger - the Unifit 3.7 provides 3.68kW continuous AC power, the Unifit 5.0 provides 5kW.

The Unifit 3.7 is usually the best option for a customer with a standard 4kWp PV system. If your customer has a larger PV system, or needs more back-up power in the event of a grid failure, then they could benefit from the Unifit 5.0.

Can the PowerRouter import energy from the grid - for example to take advantage of Economy 7 tariff?

No, this is not possible. The only situation where the PowerRouter would import energy from the grid is if it did not have enough energy available to run the scheduled maintenance charge.

Is there a version of the Nedap Install Tool for Mac computers?

No unfortunately the Nedap Install Tool is Windows only

Where can I download the Nedap Install Tool?
